Review summary

The Portbyhan Hotel enjoys a fantastic location overlooking the river and harbour in Looe, where guests often appreciate the stunning views, especially from rooms with balconies. The breakfast receives frequent praise for its quality, with special mentions for the scrumptious, thick-cut bacon. While some guests have found certain rooms, particularly family rooms, to be on the smaller side, many consider the hotel to offer great value, and enjoy the modern rooms with excellent walk-in showers. The Sunday Carvery is a particular highlight, considered unbeatable by many local residents.

a relatively good stay

breakfast selection helpful staff small room humming noise
the Breakfast selection was satisfactory, and the evening meal was well-prepared. the staff offered assistance when needed and promptly provided an extra duvet and blanket upon request. I APPRECIATED that.
the room felt rather small and became uncomfortably hot. the window had some sort of blackout covering, which limited natural light. I also heard a persistent humming noise coming from a kitchen extractor fan between 6:30 am and 9 pm.
